Support our mission by contributing a donation to restore and preserve the historical Grade II-listed Dovecote building.
What is the Dovecote?
The Dovecote is a Grade II-listed building considered to be of architectural and historic importance nestled in the grounds of The Hall.
Despite its name and octagonal shape, no evidence suggests that the Dovecote was constructed for or used for housing doves. The building has had multiple uses throughout the centuries from a wool drying store to a dwelling in the late 18th century. Later, it was likely used as a summer or guest house adjoining the Dutch Garden.
Why we are fundraising
The historical building now stands in disrepair and requires urgent renovation as it slowly surrenders to nature and abandonment. This fundraising project seeks to restore and refurbish the Dovecote, supporting the sustainability and preservation of The Hall estate.
The Hall is committed to donating all guided tour income to the restoration and refurbishment of the Dovecote.
